I was having issues with keeping Bacteria from growing in our humidifier even with using distilled water! I now have one in each humidifier and it has worked to keep them bacteria free! I still clean them as directed but these help a lot.

Drop them in, and let them do their job. They seem to work, no mildew or obvious microbe growth in the humidifier in spite of constant use, and dust and other stuff floating in the air in the house. In the past, the humidifier would require weekly cleaning to ensure nothing was growing. With these, (and periodic dosing with a humidifier microbicide) there appears to be no obvious microbe growth.

After cleaning out my humidifier as much as I could, I tried these hoping they would clean some of the residual ickyness that had built up inside in parts that I couldn't get to to clean (and was too stubborn to resist even shaking with vinegar). They have made no difference at all. Maybe these are useful at preventing build-up if you use them from day 1 of a new humidifier, but if you have any existing build-up at all, don't expect them to do much.

Maybe they're preventing additional build-up, but it's hard to see if they're really providing any benefit.

Best thing to buy for your humidifier it’s kept my 6liter humidifier clean, which means less amounts of time to clean it, I recommend getting 2 packs as it says 2 liters or more should use 2 sticks but they last you quite awhile before you need to change them
