My subwoofer on my 12-years old version of this speaker system (I bought one of these models when they first came out) finally gave out. After checking reviews online, I saw no reason to get anything else as a replacement and I have not been disappointed! The THX sound system is as precise as ever; the volume is astounding with zero distortion and the sound reproduction is spot on!
There has been a minor change in the type of connector to the sub-woofer but other than that, no cosmetic changes at all, and why should there be? The quality was excellent 12 years ago and the formula for that quality has stood the test of time. I don't play games on the PC, but I DO play a LOT of music and the clarity and precise reproduction are of paramount importance to me so getting another set was an absolute no-brainer! I did have a slight concern on delivery in that there was noticeable damage to the box but upon hooking everything up, a process that took about 30+ minutes, my fears in that regard were unfounded.
These are really high-quality speakers at an amazing price, and I see no reason why they won't hold up as long its predecessor.
