down grade came when an upgrade was needed

I’ve used Pages for several years in an all MS Word environment with huge success. I was often asked to help reformat documents when someone used a new version os Word and no one could open or read their work. I was able to interface with ease. My job was as a board officer and secretary, so I needed to fly through note taking, formatting, and organizing. Pages 8 was a breeze. I created styles for different situations. (I used to make style sheets with Nisus and would love it if I could do that or learn to do so in Pages, but that isn’t clear so I make templates.)
I slowlly learning how to do many of the same things I did in Pages 8 but every step has been very difficult and upgrades to Pages 5 have been welcomed with open arms. Unfortunately, I feel like I was working with a Pro application with Pages 8 and a poor reflection of that product with Pages 5. Many features were difficlt to learn in Pages 8, but they were welcome and needed features. Now, not only are they missing, but the lack of such important things as Mail Merge are an insult to Apple’s reputation of being a user oriented company. Why is it that that some of the old software such as Apple Works were better in many ways that this mess?

Rating as a College Student - Cross Platform Review

This is a PERSONAL review. I actually find this to be a very productive app. I can edit on my iPod or Mac and it ends up exactly as I left it. I have used Pages for 3+ years (I don’t use Word). I just have a few suggestions:

Browser suggestions:
- I love the web browser app, but just a couple suggestions. Try having the web browser able to support APA format (and MLA and etc.). Also, the view only mode is perfect, and I like how you make it difficult to copy and paste, just wish you can disable downloads for when you want to share something with a friend, but you don’t want them to download and copy every word you worked so hard to write. Shared FOLDERS would be a good idea too! (Recently I had to share a number of my files and it was tedious copying down every single link. To have the option of a shared folder with a link to all the documents you want to share could add to convenience. I mean, we already have folders...)

For collaborative features, I have used the browser several times with my fellow classmates (who are not Page users) and it is very productive. I just find it lacks behind in some features compared to the Pages app (for example, lack of APA format support which is important for some college majors like myself).

Mac & iPod suggestions:
- Integration is nice and personally, I really don’t have much complaints. It gets the job done for me and I like the direction it is heading.

Apple Has Pulled A Skitch v2.0

Skitch v1.0 was an amazingly useful tool. Then Evernote took it over and came out with Skitch v2.0; it sucked (see the Apple store ratings). Apple has done the same thing with Pages v5.0. I use Pages ever day at work and all I want is my old pages back! The new user interface is much less productive as it requires more clicks to get to the same control. Also, there are features missing as has been widely covered on the web. At this point I’m hoping that Apple also follows in Skitch v2.0’s footsteps by (1) making the old version available to those who prefer it (2) making rapid and regular updates to Pages v5.x to restore feature parity and improve usability. Skitch had a happy ending, after seven or so releaes (v2.7) Skitch v2.x was good eough that I stopped using my old v1.0.12. Pages 5.0.7 can’t come fast enough.

Updated August 22nd. v5.2.2 no real improvement. I still use the old v4.3
Updated April 23rd. v5.2 didn’t address any of the issues for me.
Updated January 28th. v5.1 is a great improvement, but, there is still a significant gap.
