  • PPO Medical Plan and prescription program administered by UnitedHealthcare.
  • Team members are eligible to participate after 400 service hours
  • $10 premium for full-time team member coverage after 800 service hours (dependent coverage, including domestic partner, is additional)
  • No cost for full-time team member and dependent coverage after 10,000 service hours (approximately 5 years)
Personal Wellness Account
  • Company-funded account helps cover the costs of out-of-pocket allowable health care expenses.
  • Full-time team members are eligible for this account after 800 service hours
  • $300 to $1,800 annually, based on years of service
  • Access to funds through a special debit card
  • Remaining funds will roll over at the end of the year
Dental Plan
  • Whole Foods Market offers three options for dental coverage administered by CIGNA. Team members are eligible to participate after 400 service hours

Vision Plan
  • Whole Foods Market offers the Vision Service Plan (VSP) to provide eye care benefits.

Health Care Reimbursement Account
  • Flexible Spending Account, allows you to contribute pre-tax funds to pay for eligible out-of-pocket health care expenses.

Dependent Care Reimbursement Account
  • Flexible Spending Account, allows you to contribute pre-tax funds to pay for anticipated day care expenses incurred while you are at work.

Life Insurance
  • Whole Foods Market offers different types and levels of life insurance coverage.
  • Team members are eligible to participate after 400 service hours
  • Life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance available at two levels of coverage, as well as coverage for your spouse and children
Disability Insurance
  • Whole Foods Market offers coverage that will replace a certain percentage of your basic weekly earnings in the event that you become injured or disabled and are unable to work.
  • Team members are eligible to participate after 400 service hours
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage available
401(k) Retirement Savings
  • All team members age 18 or over are immediately eligible to participate in our "Growing Your Future" 401(k) plan.
  • Team members will be automatically enrolled at 6 months at 3% of pay unless they opt out
  • Team members can defer from 0% to 100% of their gross compensation (up to IRS limits)
  • Company contribution: discretionary match based on eligible team member contributions
Team Member Discount
  • 20% off of all purchases made at any Whole Foods Market location
  • The discount card is provided on your first day of employment
  • Spouses and eligible domestic partners may also receive a card
Paid Time Off

Paid time off (PTO) is earned based on the hours you work, whether full-time or part-time.

  • PTO hours can be used for vacations, holidays, illness and personal days — you get to choose
  • Unused PTO rolls over from year to year and is paid out should you leave the company
  • Non-California team members may cash out up to 100% of their PTO bank at 75% of value one time per year

To balance team members' needs, we offer numerous types of leaves of absence in addition to those that are federally and state-mandated.

Gainsharing

Our Gainsharing program is similar to profit-sharing plans employed by other companies, with one important difference: Gainsharing rewards those factors that team members have most control over, like productivity, scheduling and customer service.

  • Most retail store team members are eligible to participate in our Gainsharing Program
  • Non-retail facilities may participate in Gainsharing or a similar incentive compensation program
  • Incentive bonuses for Store Team Leaders and Associate Store Team Leaders are based on the Economic Value Added (EVA®) program

Team Member Stock Purchase Plan

Team Member Stock Option Plan

Whole Foods Market's board of directors grants options to eligible Team Members every year through its broad-based stock option plan.

  • Full- or part-time non-seasonal team members are eligible to receive a leadership grant each year at the discretion of their regional president
  • Full- or part-time non-seasonal team members with more than 6,000 service hours are eligible to receive a service hour grant each year
  • Options are non-qualified stock options; the size of the grant and availability are determined each year by the board of directors
Team Member Emergency Funds

If a team member experiences an unforeseeable emergency, we have programs that can offer assistance.

  • Store and Facility Emergency Funds (funded by voluntary team member paycheck deductions - usually $1)
  • Paid Time Off (PTO) Donations (from team member to team member)
  • Global Team Member Emergency Fund (funded by the company for major disasters)
