Years of work accessible through import
Over the last two and one half decades I have done research and written graduate level degree thesis on Mac computers in Appleworks and Office 2004. Recently my first ever Mac crash necessitated transferring all these files to a MacBook Pro under OS 10.6.8. In preparation to upgrade to Lion I looked for a program that could import my work to the new OS. I found that capable program in Pages, which I now have installed on my MacBook Pro and my iPad. The Dissertaion files with hundred of footnotes, multiple languages including Hebrew, graphs and illustrations all imported into Pages. I am impressed by this alone. I plan to begin importing and saving all my key files under Pages so that they will be given new life under whatever OS upgrades are in the future. I look forward to continuing my work with Pages as a relable resource. Thanks Apple!
Replacment for Costly Microsoft Word/Office!
I was nevous about switching to a typing/document program that wasn't word but Pages is just wonderful! its sleek and easy to use once you get the hang of it! Just try not to think about Microsoft word and you will get the hang of it quickly!
Also, Pages is COMPLETELY compatible with Microsoft word. Sending a paper to a College Professor? No problem. Just save the document as a word document and you can send it with no compatability issues!
So be at ease, this app is worth the purchase!
Installed Lion...
And found ouit that my Microsoft Word 2004 no longer was of any use. I couldn't access any of my docs and was really upset that I would have to dish out $150 to get Office 2011. While I was at the Apple store on 14th street in Manhattan, I was telling a sales associate about this. He said I should just get Pages instead and import all my old files. I was sceptical, but it works like a dream! For $20 it's awesome! The staff there ia awesome as well!
