The lines at my local cineplex to view Martin Scorsese's The Departed convinced me that the end-of-the-year blockbuster season was gearing up. This is a "heavyweight" and worthwhile movie with Scorsese, DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Nicholson, Wahlberg, and Martin Sheen all proving their gifted craftsmanship. If you want to see some of the finest directing and acting, go to this film. But if you're looking for fewer bloody murders (I lost count), clarity in plot lines, relief from ponderous faux Boston accents, and less time in the movie theatre, think about another movie at the cineplex.

Moments of brilliance from each artor, but I was a little disapointed overall. Good Fellows it is not, but still worth going out to your local movie house.

Sheer brilliance! Tense, ultra-violent and increasingly intriguing gangster drama with a watertight plot -- Scorsese is back to true form. Entire cast give excellent performances, esp DiCaprio. Just look at the multitude of emotions crossing his face.
Two and half hours long but never dull. Now I have to rent the Hong Kong original. If you're not squeamish and you like to catch the Oscar contenders, don't miss this movie on the big screen.
