Your new role

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Quality Manager will take a lead role in the strategic direction of quality operations for the business. They will form part of the leadership team and be given the autonomy to grow and develop the quality function both now and in the future.

The role of the Quality Manager is to operate, maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) for the organisation. The newly appointed Quality Manager is responsible for ensuring that the customer requirements are achieved, and that any customer satisfaction issues are resolved in a timely and satisfactory manner. This is a customer facing role and visiting clients to resolve issues will be an expectation. They will lead and promote a culture of continuous improvement for quality within the organisation, and coordinate the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.

They will conduct and oversee supplier, customer, external body and internal audits, and will be the main point of contact for all external audits. Maintaining standards and working towards new standards will be a critical part of their role. They will also ensure documentation is readily available for the purpose of tenders and commercial bids.

What You'll Need To Succeed

  • Ideally, you will have some form of technical qualifications within the engineering discipline, such as C&G, HNC, HND, degree or similar, in addition to a wealth of experience leading quality functions within a design and manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with an electronics manufacturing environment would be a distinct advantage too.
  • You will have first class communication skills, being able to be the face of the business for customer, supplier and audit purposes both in person, via video and with written communication.
  • As a leader of people, you will be adept at appraisals, PDRs, one-to-one and informal reviews. You'll take the lead on succession planning and people resourcing for the quality team to ensure a full service proposition to customers in relationship to their quality-related issues.
  • You will thrive on continually improving the quality of function, inclusive of identifying development opportunities for the team, business and self.
  • The correct right to work in the UK, without expiry, is essential. My client is not offering sponsorship.
  • A full UK driving licence.
