The following contains light spoilers for the May 17 episode of Blue Bloods.
CBS‘ Blue Bloods closed out the first half of its farewell season with a romantic gesture.
As has been well reported, Blue Bloods‘ 14th and final season was split into two parts, of 10 and then eight episodes. Part 1 aired this winter/spring, and Part 2 will premiere this fall, airing Fridays at 10/9c as always.
The “mid-season finale” airing this Friday, titled “The Heart of a Saturday Night,” saw Danny and Sid keeping a close eye on a detective (guest star Aidan Quinn) who was running around town harassing those involved in getting a rapist set free on a technicality, while Frank agreed to help Pop get a widow’s request for 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund benefits approved — though Abigail’s investigation uncovered that the deceased lawman didn’t actually work at Ground Zero.
Elsewhere, Jamie and Eddie’s fifth anniversary plans were rudely scuttled when they got tasked with going undercover at a halfway house that was believed to be running an insurance scam (and sure enough, it was).
Though they missed celebrating No. 5 the way they expected, come Sunday dinner, Henry nudged the kids to renew their vows, there at the dining room table.
It took a moment for Jamie to gain his bearings, but once he did, he and Eddie pretty perfectly recited the vows we’d heard once before — though not at their church wedding, which as we all remember was barely shown in the Season 9 finale, but at that same Reagan dinner table, weeks prior to their big day.
“I will always, and still always, have your back.”
“If you fall behind, I’ll wait up.”
“I will earn your respect, and pay you respect, every day we have.”
“I will be your scout, your night watchman, and your cavalry.”
“Your medic and your chaplain, in an army of two.”
“No retreat, no surrender. You can count on me.”
“You can count on me.”
What did you think of #Jamko’s atypical anniversary plans, and their unplanned vow renewal?

When they mentioned it was their fifth wedding anniversary, I couldn’t believe Jamie and Eddie had been married that long. I liked how they recited them at Sunday dinner.
That along with seeing Frank and Henry at church, had me thinking of Stacey Keach and wishing he’d pop up.
Tonight was one of the reasons will never accept cancelation. The multigenerational story inbolving Henry and Frank, the nod to the Catholic Religion, the family dinner honoring year 5 of Jamko, the double entendre of the family teasing Jamie anout giving Jamie wood for their 5th anniversary, and finally the weekly main story involving the search for a rogue former cop seeking retribution for a rapist being set free.
Blue Bloods has it all. Say that about anyother show on the air.
I truly Hate to see this long time series end.. I look forward to Fri evenings, alone, but watching this family grow and blossom. Does CBS even have a Clue as to how the fans feel about this series ENDING?
Oh man, I wanted Eddie to be pregnant that would have been a surprise.
That’s what I hoped for…but not surprised it didn’t happen. No one progresses really in the show…whether it be professionally or romantically. Jamie changed, but I think that was to finally address the non written rule of married ppl working the same precinct. Oh, and jamie did get married 5 years ago. Erin is in the same place in both aspects. As is frank, tbe old man that i can’t remember his name, and Danny. They’ve done nothing with danny on either front…expect for losing the wife when that actress wanted off the show. It’s kinda boring now and I see why CBS wanted to get rid of it
(Unpopular opinion…I know. But oh well)
I was expecting a bit more from the midseason finale. I found this episode to be just okay. There wasn’t an exciting cliffhanger that would draw us in to returning this Fall. It felt like an episode that would air during the middle of the season. I like the finale to be so entertaining it has me wishing it was September so I could see the next episode. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen tonight.
I hate to feel the same way, but I do…this whole season has moved so slow.🫤
I think there was a hint when they were repeating their vows at the dinner table and when Jamie said “army of two”, he made a face and gave a look across the table!!!
Her pregnancy will happen in the finale or the episode before not before
Yes! I was hoping for that as well.
CBS is really screwing up canceling this show
Waiting for series 14 UK. Very sad its finished, always the good ones, grrrr
Wonderful show. I always hoped Erin would get picked to be a Federal Judge. Sid was great tonight also
Also, they film in New York. Very expensive. They could have agreed to film in Slovakia, Van Nuys, or Medicine hat and stayed on for another few years, but Selleck wanted to protect the NYC crew jobs.
As much as I love this show and hope that CBS reverses its cancellation, I thought this was a terrible episode. There wasn’t one storyline that was interesting. A huge disappointment in my eyes.
I love BB, but I agree…and this season has just moved too slow.
I thought it was good. Aiden Quinn was interesting.
OMG I must be slipping. I never recognized that was Aiden Quinn! He was unrecognizable to me. He did a great job.
I agree. This was just a bad episode.
Please continue showing Blue Bloods..it’s always heartwarming every end of the episode during dinner time..pls…thank you!
I thought there was a bit left untold about the video recorded conversation with that judge. I sort of expected that there was something in the video that would have helped cleanup the mystery as to why that rapist was freed.
Blue Bloods is a one-of-a-kind show that demonstrates the need for respect, core family values, and the pursuance of excellence in one’s life. They consistently communicate a never give up attitude and how good always rises to overcome evil. The show has an extremely loyal fan base, and ratings are through the roof! While the cast wishes to continue, it would be a shame to end this incredible show!
I don’t think Blue Bloods should be canceled.I love the show .I think CBS should reconsider.Save Blue Bloods !!
DON’T cancel Blue Blood
AMEN!
Blue Blood’s are my fiancé’s and I favorite show too watch we are very heartbroken that this season comes to an end….can’t wait until the fall Donnie Wahlberg I’ve loved him since New Kids on the Block seen him in concert too he was my favorite see you guys in the fall!!!
My favorite part was Frank and his dad in church when the woman behind them said Be Quiet! and Frank said You be quiet! Abigail has such a weird way about her, it’s fascinating. Maybe all the things some commenters said should have happened, will happen in the last half-season. No matter what, it is a shame this show is ending. In the day and age of 20 years plus of some shows (Grey’s, NCIS), they should have made Blue Bloods priority, somehow. Tom Selleck is, and always has been, class.
All I can say is, I love this show, one of the best, and really hope and pray, you will reconsider canceling it. We need shows like this that stress how important Family is! And appreciate you showing Frank and Henry in church!
It is getting tougher each day to keep a series with values in life, family and with the purpose of showing true justice. Blue Bloods has taken situations and shown many angles that exist for thought. The process of reaching answers in life is always complicated. I enjoy a series that can help educate us in life’s events. I firmly believe that the cancelation of Blue Bloods is a terrible mistake for CBS and I think they are going to get themselves in trouble with their current moves. We know who is responsible for what is taking place and i dont believe in the junk TV I see coming. My Fridays will be spent elsewhere once Blue Bloods is no longer on CBS. Poor move.
I truly wish that they would not cancel Blue Bloods. If it’s a matter of the cost of production, I would think that some of the reality programs that they have on like survivor and the amazing race would be more expensive because they’re on location in far away places not in the United States. There’s also the advertisers that want demographics for the 18 to 49-year-olds when most people that are watching shows like Blue Bloods are older than 49. I don’t know many 18 to 49 year olds that are at home on a Friday night to watch the program. I truly like the fact that they incorporate family life with the procedural of the cops just totally different and it shows how a family can be together and still have different ideas.
TPTB don’t have to pay huge salaries to the participants on reality shows, that’s the main reason they are so prolific. As for ‘Blue Bloods’, when your main star makes upwards of $200,000 per episode, that and the other stars making about $100,000 per episode, plus other production costs, that is a huge part of why it is probably ending!
The production costs are high, but the show is now in syndication and on streaming platforms. The show must not be making revenue from those sources and international outlets.
I’m sorry to see it end. Like whatever one’s comfort food of choice is, Blue Bloods is comfort TV.
Blue Bloods makes tons in syndication and cable networks that show it constantly… But actors had to take a pay cut to keep it this season… TV is weird… The nets are all chasing people who don’t watch TV….. Ignoring the millions who do…
Blood Blues should not be canceled. It is the best CBS show on. Top executives don’t know what the middle class people want to watch. Whatever you put in Blue Bloods time slot I won’t watch. you have lost a lot of viewers because of the cancellation.
Over the last two or three weeks we’ve seen Abigail become a lot more assertive. It’s a terrific decision and I wish they’d done it sooner.
C’mon, Apple or Prime or Netflix. Step up to the plate and rescue it.
Bring back Blue Bloods. Should never have been cancelled. It’s soooo good and I’ve never missed an episode
Love Love Love Blue Bloods. Can’t wait until Fall for 15 Season. Should have at least have 5 more seasons for us traditional folks.
The fall episodes are the second half of season 14! There will not be a season 15.
There is absolutely no reason other than CBS trying to save money for some other low grade future show that Blue Bloods be cancelled. CBS used to be the network to watch but the decision makers have been getting rid of the quality show that are costing too much money according to the execs. The same execs whose own pockets are being filled with the money they are saving. Shame on you CBS.
I really love Blue Bloods and I I’m pray that it gets renewed. All of the CBS shows I watch every week.
Loved seeing Aiden Quinn.
he needed Sherlock to help solve things for him…
