Chemist Warehouse is an unlisted Australian public company. It is a franchisor of around 600 pharmacies and retail stores under the brands Chemist Warehouse, MyChemist, Ultra Beauty, My Beauty Spot, and Optometrist Warehouse.

The Chemist Warehouse brand is part of the My Chemist Retail Group. We opened our first store in Melbourne back in 2000. Over the next few years, several more stores opened in Victoria. Our success pushed us to explore other states, in 2004, our first interstate store opened in Cairns.

Fresh out of university with a pharmacy degree, Mario Verrocchi, became a trainee under Sam Gance in 1980. The brothers expanded to three locations before leaving the Amcal chain in 1997 and establishing their own brand, My Chemist.

From its humble beginnings in Melbourne in 1972 before rebranding to Chemist Warehouse in 2000, the pharmacy franchise has gone from strength to strength, opening hundreds of stores around the country while remaining a private company worth billions of dollars.
