Each Bargain Chemist shop has been set up under its own registered company by Atif Malkonyan, and his business partner Peter Shenoda who is based in Geraldine, Canterbury. Malkonyan and Shenoda also own other pharmacies outside the Bargain brand, in Geraldine, Methven, Kaitaia, and Bayview.

Jack Gance (pictured) started the Chemist Warehouse pharmacy business with Mario Verrocchi in 1995 with five pharmacies. Today it has annual revenue of more than A$3 billion and over 600 outlets across Australia, New Zealand, China and Ireland.

Verrocchi and his wife Fiona own the historic Morning Star Estate on the Mornington Peninsula south of Melbourne. In 2013, Inside Retail magazine ranked Sam Gance as the 16th "most powerful" retailer in Australia.
